NovoBind Livestock Therapeutics is an agri-biotech company working to combat rising antibiotic resistance. We do this by developing next generation biologics that target and neutralize the specific bacteria, viruses, and parasites that cause microbiome-based ailments in livestock and aquaculture. Our novel biotherapeutic solutions, based on nanobodies (or single domain antibodies), present an innovative alternative to conventional treatments.

The impact of our work is economic and social—and widespread. Our targeted antimicrobials help to prevent animal diseases, improving the health and treatment of livestock while reducing the risk of major outbreaks. This in turn prevents economic losses in the agriculture and aquaculture industries, and stops dangerous pathogens from entering the environment or reaching the consumer food market. Our work even crosses over into the health of companion animals and plants, and may one day yield solutions for human illnesses as well.

We innovate three times before breakfast and show up to work wearing our favourite science-themed t-shirts. Responsibilities

1. Share our passion for scientific excellence and team-based approaches to fast-paced R&D

2. Find your passion and lead projects throughout NovoBind’s R&D Pipeline, including:

   • Identification of bacterial, viral, or parasitic targets amenable to NovoBind’s technology

   • Discovery of biologics, primarily through antibody display technologies

   • Development of assays to screen the functionality and affinity of biologics

   • Engineering of lead biologics for increased efficacy

3. Extract relevant information from literature, assimilate them and provide logical and well-informed recommendations to the research agenda

4. Supervise junior staff and act as the bridge of communication between junior staff and management

5. Support and collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet project timelines

6. Record data accurately and present results effectively in technical reports and group meetings

7. Implement and maintain new procedures and protocols

8. Actively keep up with current scientific literature relevant to NovoBind’s R&D pipeline

Qualification and Experience

1. PhD degree and expertise in molecular biology and antibody discovery

2. Familiar with molecular cloning, protein expression and purification

3. Experience in supervisory role and/or in a biotech start-up company is an asset

4. Experience in phage display, protein biophysics, drug discovery, and aquaculture pathogens is an asset

5. Experience with animal model and knowledge in animal immunology is an asset

6. Experience in using major programming language such as Python is an asset
